USB Passthrough Gradual Feature Retirement

⚠️ USB Passthrough Feature Update

Effective 1 August 2025, USB Passthrough will no longer be available for organizations that have not yet activated the feature. This decision is part of our ongoing efforts to streamline and enhance the Vivi platform.

• Organizations with pre-existing activations

  If your organization enabled USB Passthrough before 1 August, you will retain full access, including using it on additional devices within your organization.

• Organizations without any activations

  If your organization has never activated USB Passthrough, you will not be able to turn it on after 1 August. Please review the alternatives below for common use cases.

What Does This Mean for You?

Will touchback functionality be affected?

No. Touchback (the ability to control your laptop from an interactive flat panel) operates independently of USB Passthrough and will continue to function as usual.

Alternatives for document camera usage

If you currently use a document camera with USB Passthrough, we recommend transitioning to the Share Camera feature within the Vivi app:

1. Connect your document camera directly to your laptop.

2. Open the Vivi app and select Share Camera to broadcast the video feed to your classroom display.

Using other USB video devices (e.g., webcams, specialty cameras)

For other USB video devices:

1. Connect the device directly to your laptop.

2. Utilize Vivi’s Screen Sharing or Share Camera features to display the feed.

If the device needs to remain stationary (e.g., near lab equipment), consider placing a laptop nearby to serve as the video source.

End of Support Life

As a deprecated feature, active support will not be provided for USB passthrough.
