Troubleshooting Blurry resolution on firmware 3.9.5 and above

Troubleshooting Blurry resolution on firmware 3.9.5 and above

Problem Description

Some customers using firmware 3.9.5 and above have reported that their display resolution unexpectedly drops below 4K (e.g., to 480p). This can result in a blurry or unclear image.

The issue occurs when the device does not negotiate 4K automatically.

When 4K works as expected

  • If a 4K display negotiates 4K automatically, the setting will remain on Auto with no option to change.

  • In this case, the display should work normally at a clear resolution.

When resolution falls below 4K

  • If the display negotiates to 480p or another resolution lower than 4K, the resolution must be changed manually.

  • This can be done via the Web Console or Vivi Central.

  • Please note: it will not automatically adjust back to 4K without manual intervention.

Persistent resolution setting (New in 3.10.2)

  • Once you manually set a resolution, it will persist as the minimum resolution — even after:

    • A hard restart, or

    • Re-negotiation attempts by the device.

  • This is the key change introduced in firmware 3.10.2.

Difference from earlier versions

  • In firmware versions prior to 3.10.2, a manually set resolution did not persist.

  • After a hard restart or when connecting the device to a different HDMI port, the setting would revert.
