Vivi Release Channels: General Availability & Preview
Overview
We are introducing two release channels for Vivi software updates:
General Availability (GA) – Stable and recommended for all organisations
Preview – Optional early access to upcoming features (This won’t include mobile apps or PWA)
This approach provides a more reliable day-to-day experience while allowing customers to try new functionality before it becomes widely available.
Why Two Release Channels?
Separating releases into GA and Preview enables us to:
Deliver bug fixes faster
Allow early access to new features
Maintain a consistent and predictable experience on the GA channel
GA remains the default channel for all customers.
Version Numbering
Vivi uses Semantic Versioning in the format:
MAJOR.MINOR.PATCH (example: 3.10.2)
Component | Meaning | Example |
|---|---|---|
MAJOR | Long-term version (remains 3) | 3.x.x |
MINOR | Release series | Even = GA (3.10, 3.12…)Odd = Preview (3.11, 3.13…) |
PATCH | Improvements within a series | Bug fixes for GA, features+fixes for Preview |
General Availability (GA) Channel
What GA Provides
Stable, production-ready releases
Bug fixes and performance improvements only
No new features until they have been fully tested in Preview
New GA series (e.g., 3.12.0) are marked as recommended
Update Notifications
Optional for most patch updates
Recommended notifications shown when security or major GA versions become available
Vivi App notifies users when a new GA version is available
Preview Release Channel
What Preview Provides
Early access to new features and enhancements
Safe to install, but may contain minor issues
Ideal for testing, evaluation, and pilot groups
Feedback helps finalise features before GA release
