Vivi Chrome App
The Vivi Chrome App continues to be our recommended experience on ChromeOS, delivering stronger performance, greater stability, and better control for both educators and IT administrators. With Google’s extended support timeline for managed environments, the Chrome App remains a reliable and well-supported option for schools and enterprises. Details of the support timeline are outlined below, in summary, Chrome Apps are being phased out, with support continuing until at least February 2028.
How to Deploy the Vivi Chrome App via Google Admin
To deploy the Vivi Chrome App across your organisation using the Google Admin console (Super Admin access required), follow the steps below.
Sign in to the Google Admin console
Navigate to Menu → Devices → Chrome → Apps & extensions
Select the deployment type:
Users & browsers
Kiosks
Managed guest sessions
Select the Organisational Unit (OU) or Group you want to target
Click Add from Chrome Web Store
Search for Vivi
Select the Vivi Chrome App
Under Installation policy, choose one of the following:
Force install – installs the app silently for all users
Force install + pin to ChromeOS taskbar – installs and pins the app to the shelf
Click Save
The Vivi Chrome App will automatically install on all applicable devices within the selected OU or Group.
Chrome App Support Status and Timeline
Chrome Apps are being phased out by Google; however, Enterprise and Education customers using managed environments will continue to have access for an extended period.
Google has confirmed an updated support timeline that allows organisations to continue using Chrome Apps on ChromeOS with confidence.
