Signage Video Caching: Faster, More Reliable Playback

No action needed. This update rolls out to your devices automatically starting 1 September 2026. If you're adding new signage video and want the fastest, most reliable playback as soon as it reaches your devices, keep it to 30 minutes or under.

Not applicable: Play Content (on-demand video plays), live streams and embedded videos within slides are not affected by this change.

What's changing

Today, signage video links stream from their source (YouTube and similar) every time they play, so playback depends on your network and on that source being reachable. We're introducing video caching: Vivi downloads each active signage video once, and your device plays a local copy from then on. The result is more reliable playback and less bandwidth use.

The feature starts rolling out on 1 September 2026 and will reach all devices gradually over about a month, so it may arrive at slightly different times across your fleet.

How this applies by video length

As the rollout reaches your devices, new signage videos of 30 minutes or under will automatically get this caching benefit , downloading once and playing back locally for faster, more reliable playback.

New videos over 30 minutes will no longer be supported in Signage Video.

Existing signage content is not affected, regardless of length. Your screens will keep playing exactly as they do today.

The confirmation checkbox

When you add a video link, you'll also see a quick checkbox confirming you have the rights to display the content on your Vivi screens. It's a one-click confirmation that the content is cleared for use on your displays, and it applies before the link is added. This brings video links in line with local video uploads.
