Using the Wi-Fi Easy Installer

Using the Wi-Fi Easy Installer consists of a two-step procedure: an installation process followed by an approval process. We strongly recommend reading through this entire document prior to using the easy installer.

The Wi-Fi easy installer can be accessed via the Vivi Application in two ways:

  1. IT Admin Role: Users with the IT Admin role can access the Wi-Fi Easy Installer Tool from the icon located next to the settings cog in the top right.

  1. Installer Code: Access to this tool can also be delegated to users via an installer code. The following page details the process for creating and signing into the Vivi Application using Installer codes:

Installation Process

  1. Retrieve your devices and proceed to the room where you intend to install them. Then, simply click on 'Next.' From there, you can choose a Profile from the provided list. Profiles encompass a collection of configuration settings that will be implemented on the device. This page details how to create and configure profiles in Vivi Central.

  1. (Optional) - If you profile has been set to configure room and location details you will be displayed additional prompts to set the location and room name. Depending on the profile you will be prompted to do one of the following:

    1. Assign an existing location and existing room

    2. Assign an existing location and enter a room name

    3. Enter a room name without a location

  1. Fix the antennas to your devices and activate the power. Please do not connect their Ethernet cables at this stage. The expected indicator status should comprise a steady red light alongside a pulsating green light.

  2. Once the devices have been powered on, click the ‘Scan for Devices’ button. You will now be presented with a list of available devices. Select the devices you would like to configure from this list and select the ‘Configure Devices’ button.

Please be aware your laptop will be temporarily disconnected from your organisations Wi-Fi network to connect to the Vivi’s internal Wi-Fi to apply the settings.

 

 

  1. The configuration profile will subsequently be implemented on the Vivi boxes. After this process is finished, you will see the following message ‘Your Devices Have Been Successfully Configured'.

 

 

Approval

Once you've successfully configured your devices using the Wi-Fi Easy Installer, they will automatically populate on the Installations page under the 'Pending' tab.

At this point, an IT Admin has ability to handpick the devices from the list and make a choice between approving or removing them. Any adjustments needed for Location or Room names can also be made at this stage, prior to approval.

Upon granting approval, the Location and Room names will propagate across the devices within Vivi Central.

Troubleshooting

  • When configuring Wi-Fi settings, please double-check that the SSID and Pre-shared keys are accurately entered in the profile configuration.

  • If you happen to make any alterations to your profiles, restart your Vivi app to ensure that the updated profile configuration takes effect.
