Firewall Exceptions

For the Vivi Box to operate, it needs to be able to connect to Vivi Central.

Firewall exceptions are required on many networks in order for this to work.

The Status page in the Web Console shows if Vivi has the required access to the Internet.

The simplest way is to add a wildcard exception follows:

  • *.vivi.io (HTTP and HTTPS)

If you cannot use wildcards and need to explicitly add firewall exceptions, please apply the following:

  • api.vivi.io (HTTP & HTTPS)

  • storage.vivi.io (HTTPS)

  • downloads.vivi.io (HTTPS)

In the rare event that this list changes, you will be advised in a Service Announcement.

Additionally, some third-party security services and proxies may require that you also allow

  • *.vivi-box.io

Please note: These need to be explicitly added as exceptions. Often network administrators assume these will work anyway as your proxy may be open to, or have 80 and 443 open by default – but this is not the case, as Vivi makes an application level connection to the Internet. Most firewalls are open on these ports by default to browser traffic, not application traffic.
