Vivi Windows Audio Driver

The Vivi Windows Audio Driver is an optional component that can be installed from client version 3.5.2.

How to install the Windows Audio Driver

During manual installs of the Vivi Client app, you must check ‘Install Vivi Audio Driver’ as this option is not checked by default.

If you are running the MSI as a silent install, you need to use INSTALL_AUDIO_DRIVER="True"

For example: msiexec.exe /i [path_to_msi] /q INSTALL_AUDIO_DRIVER="True" /L*V [path_to_logfile]

How does it work?

After installing the driver on an end users device, the Vivi Virtual Audio Device will be visible from the sound option only after you have started screen sharing with the Vivi application.

System default audio drivers appear as normal when not screen sharing

Once the Vivi Virtual Audio Device is in use, sound will stop projecting from your device and will come from the Vivi-connected display. Volume controls will be managed from the volume controls within the Vivi app and not from Windows (in the system tray or anywhere else).

Troubleshooting

No option to install driver

You will not be able to install the Vivi Audio Driver if:

  • You are running an OS older than Windows 10 (e.g. Windows 8, etc.)

  • You are running a 32-bit version of Windows 10

  • You are running Windows 10 version 19H2 or older

The driver doesn’t work

This driver is only relevant to the Windows Desktop client and not the Web App. The Vivi Virtual Audio Device must be installed on the local device.

To check whether it’s installed, check Device Manager and look in both the ‘Audio inputs and outputs’ category and the ‘Sound, video and game controllers’ category.
