Table of Contents

Requirements

Ensure you have the following items close to each other for the initial setup:

  • Active Network Port: Available on your local network.

  • Display Device: Connectable via an HDMI cable.

  • Power Outlet: For powering the Box.

Once the Box is plugged in, it will boot up. Make sure the other connections are in place first.

Note: Depending on the setup of your local network, additional network settings may be needed before the Box can be fully activated.

Setup Process

Connecting the Vivi Box

Preparing Connections:

Ensure the HDMI, ethernet, and power connections are ready before plugging in the Vivi Box.

Powering the Vivi Box:

The Vivi Box supports two power options:

  • AC Power Adapter: Use the provided adapter, particularly if you plan to use Wi-Fi.

Important: If you have a VWP-200/205/210 device, always use the supplied 5V AC power adapter. Using a VWP-100 12V adapter will damage the device and void your warranty.

  • Power over Ethernet (PoE):

Note: Not all networks can provide power via the network or are configured to do so as standard. Please check your setup if the Vivi is not receiving power after connecting the ethernet cable.

Indicator Light:

A solid red light on the front panel of the Vivi Box will confirm the Box is powered.

Network Setup

Ethernet:

  • Connect the ethernet cable from the Box to your network port.

  • Ensure both ends are securely connected, and the network port is active.

  • If your network requires the Vivi Box MAC address be registered, you can find it on the bottom of the Vivi receiver or on the packaging it was shipped in.

Wi-Fi (for Vivi models VWP-200/205/210):

  • Connect the two supplied antennas to the corresponding antenna ports found in the back of the Box.

  • Position the antennas so that the sides are facing the nearest wireless access point (WAP).

Connecting the Display

  • Use an HDMI cable to connect the Vivi Box to your Display device.

  • For VGA or DVI Displays, use an HDMI-to-VGA or HDMI-to-DVI converter (video only).

  • For Human Interface Device (HID) compliant touchscreens, use the USB port.

USB Connections

The Vivi Box includes two USB ports, which can be used for:

Boot-Up and Activation

First-Time Start-Up:

When powered on for the first time, the Vivi Box will self-extract its operating system (this may take a few minutes). During this process the Vivi Box may reboot itself a few times.

Once completed you will see the Vivi logo and room name will appear on the display.

Troubleshooting Activation:

If the Vivi Box has been unable to activate itself, the following message will be displayed:

Some steps you can take to ensure the Vivi is able to connect and activate:

  1. Add necessary firewall exceptions and internal network port configurations.

  2. Reboot the Box by disconnecting and reconnecting the power.

Understanding Box Status Lights

Your Vivi Box includes status lights that indicate its current operational state.

  • Double Flash (heartbeat): Disconnected.

  • Slow Flash: Offline.
