Power Management

CEC Power Management

With Vivi firmware 2.5 and greater you can now use CEC (Consumer Electronics Control) with Vivi to power your devices ON and OFF via Vivi Central or the Vivi Web Console.

Compatibility

Please Note: It’s important that you confirm that the display you are using is CEC Compatible.

To do so, connect the display directly to the vivi box via HDMI and navigate to the Box's Web Console.

  • Once in there select Power Management on the left hand panel.

  • Next select HDMI CEC from the Mode option.

  • Select Save at the bottom of the page.

  • Click the Power Off button.

If the display doesn't turn OFF - turn the display off and press the Power On button.

  • Click the Power ON button.

If the display then turns ON - this means the connected display only supports CEC Power On with Vivi and we recommend using "Disable HDMI Output" in conjunction with CEC to turn the display OFF.

If the display responds to both commands - the connected display supports CEC.

If neither option works -  Vivi CEC is not compatible with the connected display.

Configuring HDMI CEC in the web console

CEC can be configured on each Vivi box individually via the web console;

  • Log on to the Vivi Box's Web Console.

  • On the Power Management page;

  • Set the Mode to HDMI CEC.

Active Periods

With Vivi CEC you can set a display to be turned ON at the beginning of an active period and OFF at the end of the active period.

Displays will remain ON during the active period and If the displays are used outside of the active period, the display can be configured to turn OFF when idle.

  • Under Active Periods, Add a schedule for each day of the week where Power Management is needed.

    • Select the Active Period Window using the slider.

    • Choose to Disable On Event at Start Time (this will prevent the screens from being turned on at the beginning of the active period and wait for a Power on Event to occur instead)

Idle Timeout

This is time that needs to elapse where the Vivi box is unused before the screens turn OFF.

This can be set at either five minutes, fifteen minutes, thirty minutes, one hour or two hours.

Power On Events

A Power On Event allows the connected display to be turned on via CEC and used OUTSIDE of the Active Period.

Join Room - When a user joins the room.

Present Screen or Play Video Direct - When a presenter shares their screen or plays content.

Signage Schedule Start - When Signage targeted at the room starts.

Emergency - When an Emergency is triggered.

Disable HDMI Output

Disable HDMI Output stops the Vivi Box from transmitting a HDMI signal to the display - allowing the displays auto-standby feature to power off the screen.

If your screen does not support HDMI CEC then this can be used to turn the display off when ‘idle’.

This value must be longer than the displays on Auto-standby value.
