Using a Virtual Camera with OBS + Announcements
This guide will help you set up and configure a virtual camera to replace your laptop's camera, enabling you to share your screen with the Video Announcements feature. This setup can display from the chosen screen to your Announcements Group.
We recommend performing a test run on a single device before using this setup in a live environment.
Download and install the OBS app to your device.
Open the OBS app. Select ‘I will only be using the virtual camera’ and click 'Next'
In OBS, go to ‘Sources’ and select ‘Display Capture’. Choose the screen you want to share and create the source. Once a source has been created, OBS will show your chosen screen source.
Navigate to the Announcements section in the Vivi app. Select ‘Video and Audio’ and choose the destination for your Announcement.
From the dropdown list of cameras, select 'OBS Virtual Camera'.
Return to OBS. Under ‘Controls’, click ‘Start Virtual Camera’.
You will now see a preview of what your OBS virtual camera is presenting in the Vivi app's preview section. Click ‘Start Video Announcement’ to begin your stream.
If your virtual screen appears mirrored, you can correct this in OBS by right-clicking the source, selecting ‘Transformation’ and then ‘Flip Horizontal’. This adjustment will display the source correctly in the Vivi application.
