Cloud Firmware Updates
Vivi devices running on firmware version 3.4.0 or later can use Vivi's cloud firmware update feature to schedule updates from anywhere, whether inside or outside your organisation network.
This feature allows you to set the schedule for firmware updates to occur after school hours or on weekends, without disrupting classes.
You can update individual devices by navigating to that device page and clicking on ‘Update Firmware’ button from the Scheduled Update tab.
You can also update multiple devices from ‘Configure Devices’ page after turning the toggle on for Cloud Update on the page. Please note that this page only allows selection of devices on the firmware version 3.4.0 or later.
Once you click on the ‘Update Firmware' button either from the device individual device page or after selecting multiple devices from 'Configure Devices’ page, you will get a pop-up window to select the firmware version you want the devices to upgrade to and the time window for the update.
A minimum of 4 hours window is mandatory to allow the devices sufficient time to update. It is advised to keep the window longer if you have a large number of devices to update and/or a low bandwidth for downloading of the firmware.
The time selection is in the organisation’s time zone.
Only one update can be scheduled on the box at a time however, you can still cancel or overwrite the current update schedule if any directly on the box. You can also set different schedules for different boxes. Once the update has been scheduled, the Vivi devices will attempt to download the firmware from during the scheduled time window. You can find the schedule either on the Cloud Update page or on the Scheduled Update tab of the individual devices page.
If for any reason the devices are not online during the scheduled time, the update will not succeed and the box firmware version will continue to be on the older firmware version.
